VolunteerAKITA and Wakodo are proud to announce a joint event with the city of Rikuzentakata, FAIR Takata!
With the immediate dangers past, the needs of the survivors have changed. While many people feel that they have to start supporting themselves financially, it doesn’t mean we cannot still give them support to continue moving forward. We need to remind them that they are not forgotten and that we still care about their situation.
With this in mind, we have partnered with Wakodo and Rikuzentakata, Iwate in cooperation with the mayor, city hall and the citizens, to organize a carnival and live music event where everyone can get together and enjoy themselves. We want booths and stalls with events ranging from carnival games to balloon animals, face painting to face stuffing. We will feature both local musical performances, junior high schools and senior high school, and music acts from all around the country.
This is a chance to give back to the community, to get back to the coastal cities and volunteer our time and show them support.
FAIR Takata Time and Location-
The event will take place in Rikuzentakata city on August 17, 2013 (Saturday). The location is Takata Elementary School.
What we need right now-
We have set a tentative goal of ￥500,000. We would like to make the “FAIR” side of the event as authentic as possible, so we will be building and replicating some of your favorite carnival games for the attendees to try out. All donations will go towards the games and operational costs of the event.
If you’d like to see more details, you can always view our projected budget right here.
How you can donate-
Donations from within Japan can be done by bank transfer (furikomi). International donations can be made through IsraAID’s GlobalGiving project page. Banking details and a donation link can be found on our website’s donation page
The event is fast approaching! August 17th is less than 1 month away! We will be accepting donations right up to the day of the event. Please tell everyone you know, even if you can’t volunteer, come share in the experience with us. The citizens of Rikuzentakata will be incredibly thankful! We look forward to seeing you there!
